ANDERSON — McDonald County High School DECA program is going to New York City November 29 through December 4. DECA advisor Christine Ellis says this is her eighth time taking students to NYC.
Ellis will be taking students to a DECA conference called “DECA New York Experience.”
Ellis said the goal of the trip is for students to have a positive and lasting experience.
“My goal is for them to have an experience of a lifetime that they’ll never forget, in the most positive way,” Ellis said.
Ellis, who has been an educator for 27 years, said this trip stands out amongst others she has taken students on.
“This has to be the most spectacular, most educational, most beneficial of all of them,” Ellis said.
DECA students are currently fundraising to prepare for the upcoming trip.
“We have worked the concession stands at the games,” Ellis said. “We are meeting to figure out if we are going to do group fundraisers and which ones we want to do.”
In addition to Ellis taking DECA students, parents are also invited to attend the trip. Rebecca Pullen, MCHS foreign language teacher, will be attending the trip as a chaperone.
